Interview - Feral Mantra

For anyone who doesn't know Feral Mantra, introduce yourselves to us.

We are Feral Mantra, an experimental rock/indie band based in Sheffield and Doncaster.

Where did the name Feral Mantra come from?

We thought of something unique, that would suit the sound of the music we wanted to achieve.

Musically, who would you say your biggest influences are?

Too many influences! We all like very different music, good music on a broad scope. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Dead Sons to name a few - any pyschedlic, indie and atmospheric music really.

Your first E.P is just about to be finished in the studio, you must feel immensely proud of yourselves?

It's taken a while to do due to funding, but we cant wait to get it out to as many people as possible. We feel it represents our development over the last year.

On top of the release of your E.P, what else do you have planned for the summer in terms of gigs?

We are playing Propa Local in Sheffield on the 30th of May and hope to get involved in Tramlines. We have a very unique set lined up that is a must see...

In terms of venues in Sheffield, is there one you could play over and over again?

We havnt had to many gigs at all but we loved playing at the o2 academy it was a good experience of things to come.

Finally, if you could support one band from any period of time, who would it be?

That's tricky. Obviously Hendrix, or Arctic Monkeys if it has to be a Sheffield band!
